Port Lincoln; Number 3 top spot for tourists

Port Lincoln, the Seafood Capital of Australia is now placed 3rd on the list of South Australia’s top 10 destinations behind Adelaide and Mt. Gambier.

And I thought it would rank higher with our unique adventure activities such as Great White shark cage diving, swimming with sealions and tuna, sensational sports fishing either on a charter or off a secluded beach. Speaking of beaches, these are to die for wether it would be for surfing, swimming, snorkeling, body surfing or just lazing about watching the kids build sandcastles and having fun.

You dont get seafood any fresher or plentiful and there are award winning wineries, picturesque National Parks full of wild life and birdlife, 4WD tracks, the Great Australian Bight Treks, resteraunts, pubs and standout accommodation.

A few people reckon the distance is too far or it costs too much. Rubbish! Check out Regional Express (REX) or Qantas Link for cheap flights that only take 40 minutes to get here from Adelaide. Goin’ Off Safaris will pick you up if required and give you 2-6 days of a action packed itinerary like no other or we can organise your agenda and drive yourself! What are you waiting for…..??

Trekking the Great Australian Bight

One of the great things we used to do as kids was to do some exploring around the farm, the scrub & sand dunes & rock pools along the coastline. Somethings don’t change & even as big kids a few of us found ourselves exploring some of the coastline & clifftops along part of the  Great Australian Bight.

This really is sensational. There is over 2000km of coastline on Eyre Peninsula, featuring rugged & spectacular towering limestone cliffs as well as beautiful sweeping surf beaches, sand dunes, sheltered coves, rare osperey nests & our treks will show you all of this plus some!

For those of you who like the outdoors & a bit of fitness with some fresh sea air blowing into your face, this is right up your alley!

We provide  2lt camel packs with your food requirements for the day & away we go starting on our coastal farm & making our way along the waters edge & then gradually climbing up onto the cliff tops where hardly anyone has ventured before.

Views are obviously incredible as is the wildlife, but for me, seeing & hearing the surf crash in from the Southern Ocean onto the cliff faces makes you want to sit & watch for hours.

Depending on your fitness levels, the trek takes about 6 hours to do, so we can do this as just a day trip or an another option as an extra activity on one of our Goin Off Safaris packages. We try to avoid November- March as it can get very hot, but spring time is ideal. We can also extend this day trip into a longer format with 2-4 day trks available & for those really keen & inspired we are planning kayaking, trekking & riding a larger section of the coastline. Should be great fun, a great challenge, so contact us about that as well!

Very well done to the members of the Leonello family who took up the challenge & came with us for the first time late last year & hardly raised a sweat!
