Aboard the beautiful 78ft cruiser “Strictly Business”, you get up close and personal by swimming with Southern Bluefin Tuna, Australian Sea Lions, multiple cage dives with Great White sharks plus view pods of dolphins and when in season, Pilote, Blue and the the massive Southern Right whales. The scenery does’nt get much better than the ocean view of the Port Lincoln National Park and the Memory Cove Wilderness Sanctuary, as you steam close enough to see White Bellied Sea Eagles nest and other seabirds. As Port Lincoln is Australia’s seafood capital, you a very well fed with the promise of the freshest produce that is on offer such as Coffin Bay Oysters, Sashimi, Spencer Gulf prawns, Kinkawooka Mussels and fresh fish caught by you!
Check out the episode here to see the popular TV host and presenter, Dr Chris Brown (The Bondi Vet) share this very memorable experience!

Here are some comments from a previous Ocean Safari that was held recently which attracted UK celebrity couple, Charlie Brooker and Konnie Huq;

” Iam usually a miserable cynic incapable of anything approaching enjoyment, so the fact that this team & the Ultimate Ocean Experience not only had me enjoying myself, but openly smiling even, is a little short of a miracle! I used to think tuna were about the size of a shoe. What a cretin I was! Everything about the weekend was fantastic & a great time was had by all. Even me!…..” Charlie Brooker, the Guardian

“Swimming with tuna- Awesome! Hanging out with Sealions-Such amazing fun! Seeing Dolphins- Ace! Fishing ,snorkelling, hanging out-A real laugh! The food- Delicious! ALL IN ALL- FAB!…….” Konnie Huq

” I’ve lived on the Eyre Peninsula for 9 years & thats the best weekend that I’ve had….” Mark Thomas

” In designing the Ultimate Ocean Experience, Goin’ Off Safaris and Adventure Bay Charters offer the most rich & satisfying eco-tour in South Australia, without a doubt…….” Kingsley Griffen

” Such an amazing trip! Great people, great food, great wine! I ahd a ball & learnt a lot about Port Lincoln and the marine life. I will be recommending it to everyone…..” Lynlee White

The lengths that Matt Waller, David Doudle & crew have gone to provide their clients with the Ultimate Ocean Adventure is simply brilliant. Enjoyable for people of any age, the knowledge that Matt imparts upon guests makes for an enriching experience that leaves a lasting impression. Definitely a trip that I will be recommending. Well done guys….” Cherie Langsford

” The Ultimate Ocean Adventure has changed the way that I think of my own backyard. I have renewed appreciation for Southern Bluefin Tuna as a species, their role in creating Port Lincoln & of course as sashimi! Swimming with the Australian sealions was an absolute highlight on both days. Amazing food and the abundant knowledge the Matt Waller provided helped make this an all round fantastic experience. Thankyou!….. Raffael Veldhuyzen

Flying in a tiny four-seater plane, the Buchanan Group arrived in Coffin Bay for their 4 day tailored Hunt & Gather Safari.

Shortly after arrival in stunning Coffin Bay, we laid on a seafood extravaganza for our guests while they sipped local wines, overlooking the sunset from their private balcony. After a feast of natural and Kilpatrick oysters and fresh caught green-lip abalone, it was time to turn in in preparation for a big day of fishing and exploring on day two.

The morning began with Gary at GT Charters, where our avid fishermen tried their luck fishing for the tasty table fish, King George Whiting. Catching enough for a decent feed for all aboard, it was a fresh seafood dinner for the second night in a row.

After such a jam-packed morning, we picked up our fabulous four and ventured out for a relaxing afternoon cruising the Coffin Bay National Park. With superb weather conditions at Avoid Bay and Almonta Beach we stretched our legs with a walk along the beach, followed by a beer stop at calm and tranquil Yangi Bay on the other side of the peninsula.

After a sleep-in on day two, we picked up our group of adventurers and made our way into Port Lincoln for another day of exploration. After almost being blown off Winter’s Hill lookout, a quick coffee in the sun on the foreshore and witnessing the unloading of thousands upon thousands of pilchards down at the wharf, we ventured to the historic Axel Stenross Maritime Museum.

The afternoon was highlighted by a trip out to a farmed tuna cage with Adventure Bay. The chance to swim with and hand feed these amazingly fast fish was a spectacle for the group, with 3 of the 4 braving the chilly water!

The final action packed day involved a trip out to our front yard, showing off some of the most pristine beaches and cliff tops along the coast. We even threw a line in off the beach, reeling in a tasty Flathead (Congratulations Carol!)

Unfortunately at the end of 4 days of spectacular weather and adventures, our lovely guests had to leave us and continue their journey across the country towards Esperance.

For a start I had better introduce myself. My name is Erin and I am the new Assistant Manager at Goin’ Off Safaris.

After starting here on Monday, I have already had a very busy week booking in new trips and playing with the new iMac and today was no exception! This morning I jumped aboard the Coffin Bay Explorer for their 3 hour round trip of Coffin Bay.

Departing the Coffin Bay boat ramp at 9.30am, our guide Darian took us past some of the most pristine parts of the Coffin Bay National Park- some beaches that are only accessible by boat! The running commentary about the earliest visitors to the bay made for easy listening, as we all soaked up a bit of sun.

Our adventure around the bay continued on past two tiny islands known as ‘The Brothers’. The story behind them is truly fascinating, but I won’t spoil the tale before you get a chance to see them yourself.

Living on the Brothers are a wide variety of birds- including Cormorants, Silver Gulls, Crested Terns and Antarctic Skua’s- large, brown birds that journey here to nest on the islands. Also residing on the island are a pair of male Australian Sea Lions, as well as a spattering of smaller New Zealand Fur Seals.

Darian also has an Oyster lease, so part of the tour included a stop at the racks for a brief history about the oyster industry in Coffin Bay- and for those so inclined- a taste test of the freshest oysters you will ever taste! Delicious!!

Now as if the tour couldn’t get any better- a pod of almost 20 Bottlenose Dolphins made an appearance. As we slowly cruised by, they swam all around and under the boat in the crystal clear water- almost as though they were inviting us to come and play with them. Unfortunately Darian is not running swims with the dolphins this year due to the late breeding season of these magnificent animals last year. So instead we admired them from the boat.

We left the dolphins (reluctantly) and began the journey back home. In 3 hours we learnt amazing things about the history of the bay, tasted some of the freshest seafood you can get and saw a huge variety of land based and marine animals! And that’s all in a day’s work for the Coffin Bay Explorer!

This is only one of the many options we offer as part of our amazing tour packages around the Eyre Peninsula. For more information see our website

The Glitz & Hammer Ball is an annual gala ball organised by an external committee, supporting Cancer Council SA’s work within the community, with all funds raised going directly to Cancer Council SA to support cancer treatment, research, prevention, early detection, education and information.

We are all affected somehow by this disease, so we put together a 4 day/ 4 night package on the magnificent Eyre Peninsula, to be auctioned off on the evening, in the hope of raising several thousand’s of dollars to go to this cause. With the Port Lincoln Hotel, Adventure Bay Charters, Flinders Keepers Accommodation, Coffin Bay Explorer, Rex Airlines, GT Fishing Charters, Port Lincoln Limos, Cafe DelGiornio and us at Goin’ Off Safaris all donating their services, the package came out at just under a $11,000 auction item!

For 4 persons, this is now the major auction item which consists of;

2 nights accommodation at the Port Lincoln Hotel

Great White shark cage diving

swim with Australian sealions and Southern Bluefin Tuna

3 hours cruising the tranquil waterways of Coffin Bay & eating fresh Coffin Bay oysters

Full day off shore fishing charter

Full day of sight seeing, beach fishing, sand boarding, snorkeling and swimming

2 nights waterfront in beautiful Coffin Bay

Seafood dinner platter for 4

4 course dinner prepared by our in house chef

Airport pickup & return in style by limousine

I’m sure you would agree that this sounds like a lot of fun! The ball is on this Saturday, the 4th of June at the Adelaide Convention Centre and hosted by Troy Gray, with entertainment by stars such as Lisa Edwards and the Motown Connection! Its going to be a great show and there are still plenty of tickets available and for more information, click here.

After a long cold and wet winter, fishing boats are back in the water with punters coming back to the boat ramps well pleased with themselves. Summer is still trying to get here, but with only the super keen fisherman (these could also be bordering on madness) tackling the wintry conditions , this means that stock is thick which equates to another fishing bounty around Coffin Bay waters this summer.

Of late, big Snapper, Nannagai and prized table fish, the King George Whiting, have been getting muscled in by the boat load. Massive Trevally (for our region anyway), up to 50-60cm, have been providing a heap of fun in the shallows and as always, big Australian Salmon continue to enthrall on our private and secluded beach.

Kingfish are around for the dedicated and patient and once again expecting another big hit on Southern Bluefin Tuna from Jan-May.

Below is a few images from a boating trip aboard our favoured companions at GT Fishing Charters recently with some mates getting hold of some good “lump headed” snapper before the state wide ban throughout November.

We have had a lot of interest all ready in our fishing trips for the coming summer and these can be fully customised to what you and your group want. For more ideas and information for a package to suit you, visit our fishing page on our webpage.

Tight lines and smokin’ reels!

We were lucky enough to show around The Travel Editor’s and freelance journalist, Rebecca Wicks around some of our secrets of Eyre Peninsula yesterday. After swimming with 40kg wild tuna in Port Lincoln, cruising around the sensational Coffin Bay on the Coffin Bay Explorer, some 4WDriving on massive sand dunes with killer ocean & clifftop views, we ended up at a prime endless beach.

The surf rods were unpacked, hooks loaded up, lines fired out & within minutes we were muscling in some big salmon. Check out this video to see Bec’s first fish caught off the beach. I like the way it was released as well!!

Local Port lincoln winery, Boston Bay Wines, yesterday released it’s first ever sauvignon bland white wine & has aptly named the new label as The Great White. Port Lincoln is known as the seafood capital of Australia ( for good reason) & this wine has been specifically produced for the fresh seafood that we endulge in down here. At the launch yesterday, I personally had to have a few glasses & with some fresh Coffin Bay Oysters & it really was top shelf!

Special thanks to the Pt.Lincoln Times for the photo of Bill Ford(right)

The Great White is the new addition added to the Ford families assorted collection of Riesling, Chardonnay, Spatlese Riesling, Riesling Mistrille, Cab Sav, Shiraz ( my favourite) & Merlot. The family describes the Great White as ” elegant, crunchy sauvignon that packed with appetising tropical fruits , goosberry & all manner of naturally refreshing flavours & aromas that marry particularly well with just about any kind of seafood..”

The winery itself is seated perfectly overlooking the enormity of Port Lincolns Boston Bay( hence the name). A beautiful location especially when one can sit back with the home grown product whilst been served up something equally special by live in acclaimed master chef & family member Tony Ford. The winery caters for those special functions as well during the year & is open for cellar door sales. Goin Off Safaris is more than happy to provide clients with a selection of the local drop!

Whilst on Great Whites, out in the water, numbers of the sharks are great at the minute & have been for some time, with some of the big ones up to 18 ft been frequently seen. So now is the time to see the Great Whites in the water & back on land, sample of few glasses of the new label with some fresh oysters so you can see what we’re on about over here!

I’m gonnna crack another!!
