Very happy about our Lake Eyre & Outback tours.

You know when your onto something pretty good when you continue to get fantastic feedback from guests! Last weekend was another great 3 Day Supreme Scenic Safari trip to Lake Eyre and the Outback with the same hospitality that has been shown for all our trips over the last couple of years from our friends at Innamincka, Birdsville, William Creek & Coober Pedy, just to mention a few. Here are some responses;

Good evening David,

Apologies for not having written sooner – we had the best of intentions.  Firstly, a big thank you to “Goin’ Off Saffaris”.  You certainly have a first class crew – all three, Tony, Chris and Fish –  for whom we have nothing but admiration.  We can honestly say that the whole experience was beyond expectation for both of us. The pilots not only worked so well together in the cockpit that any fears were soon overcome, but also with Fish in the general organisation as well as entertaining us at mealtimes!  We are actually still taking it all in, having covered so much territory in such a short time. We were quite an eclectic group in a way but Fish, the epitome of  ’a people person’ brought out the best in everyone and we couldn’t help noticing the way he quietly but constantly checked that everyone was catered for at all times.   The choice of accommodation, meals etc. could not have been better and it is obvious that a great deal of thought and planning has gone into these details.  We’ve been telling everyone about our experience, starting with our taxi driver from the airport on Sunday night who was extremely interested, and will continue to do so although words and photos can’t really do it justice.   It is incredible to think that this time last week we were looking forward to and preparing for the trip and now it is a priceless memory.   We are sorry but we’ve both been racking our brains to be able to provide some constructive criticism but neither of us can come up with anything.

Once again, a big ‘thank you’ to Fish, P1 and P2 and yourself!

sincere and warmest wishes,

Warwick and Maureen Barber

Hi David, We have just arrived back from our 3 days tour and wanted to email
you immediately to THANKYOU for such a wonderful experience. We are both
still on a high. The 3 days of wonderment was something we shall never
forget.  Pilots Chris & Tony were fantastic, always having our comfort and
most importantly giving us all incredible opportunities to witness and
experience the Lake Eyre Basin and surrounding areas and what it has to
offer. Your Host ‘Fish’ is an absolute gem and kept us all informed of all
the history, areas we were approaching and making sure we were all ‘fed and
watered’ and comfortable.  The accommodation and eateries were second to
none. We will certainly be singing the tours’ praises in all aspects of
hospitality and diversity enabling us to experience more areas of our
wonderful country Australia.  Once again thank you for putting the tour
together and a wonderful team who made the whole experience unforgettable. We
shall be very grateful for any information on any other tours to the outback
next year so we can pass on our experience to others who are interested
Cheers and all the best for the future for Goin’ off Safaris,
Roger & Coral Reichelt
PORT MACQUARIE

I am pleased to say that our “safari” trip was a lot smoother; even after allowing for the acrobatics and a 90 knot head winds! Everything was laid back, casual with no bother as should be the case in any “Outback” experiences. The scenery was spectacular from the air & the crew welcoming, obliging & funny. The outback characters lived up to expectations & our fellow passengers on the journey were a great bunch of people.Overall, it was a great way to see this part of the country & when time is limited, Mother Nature may not provide another opportunity in my lifetime! I hope to get back to check out the Eyre Peninsula at some time in the future & have passed your details onto another co-worker who was excited to hear about our travels.

Keep up the great work & hope to have another opportunity to travel with Goin’ Off Safaris. Thanks heaps, Brenda- Melbourne.

Colebrook Luxury Log Home, Pt.Lincoln

Eyre Peninsula now has yet another world class jewel  to add to its crown. This time its in the form of an amazing new property aptly named “Colebrook” in Charlton Gully, just out of the seafood capital of Australia, Port Lincoln.

Designed by owners Shane and Rebecca Cole,  Colebrook is an outstanding rural retreat that offers a relaxed country experience without foregoing the small luxuries of everyday life. 2011 Cancer Council SA Glitz and Hammer Ball

A few months ago, Goin Off Safaris was asked if we would like to contribute a little something to the 2011 Cancer Council SA’s Glitz and Hammer Ball.

The Glitz & Hammer Ball is an annual gala ball organised by an external committee, supporting Cancer Council SA’s work within the community, with all funds raised going directly to Cancer Council SA to support cancer treatment, research, prevention, early detection, education and information.

We are all affected somehow by this disease, so we put together a 4 day/ 4 night package on the magnificent Eyre Peninsula, to be auctioned off on the evening, in the hope of raising several thousand’s of dollars to go to this cause. With the Port Lincoln Hotel, Adventure Bay Charters, Flinders Keepers Accommodation, Coffin Bay Explorer, Rex Airlines, GT Fishing Charters, Port Lincoln Limos, Cafe DelGiornio and us at Goin’ Off Safaris all donating their services, the package came out at just under a $11,000 auction item!

For 4 persons, this is now the major auction item which consists of;

  • 2 nights accommodation at the Port Lincoln Hotel
  • Great White shark cage diving
  • swim with Australian sealions and Southern Bluefin Tuna
  • 3 hours cruising  the tranquil waterways of Coffin Bay & eating fresh Coffin Bay oysters
  • Full day off shore fishing charter
  • Full day of sight seeing, beach fishing, sand boarding, snorkeling and swimming
  • 2 nights waterfront in beautiful Coffin Bay
  • Seafood dinner platter for 4
  • 4 course dinner prepared by our  in house chef
  • Airport pickup & return in style by limousine

I’m sure you would agree that this sounds like a lot of fun! The ball is on this Saturday, the 4th of June at the Adelaide Convention Centre and hosted by Troy Gray, with entertainment by stars such as Lisa Edwards and the Motown Connection! Its going to be a great show and there are still  plenty of tickets available and for more information, click here.

Uncharted Outposts comes to Coffin Bay

20110421-084953.movHad a great trip over the last few days with leading American safari and travel agent Stephanie Hatfield from Uncharted Outposts. Organized by our own Australian Coastal Safaris agent,The Tailor, we had heaps of fun and plenty of laughs as we showed Steph and her husband Bill, just a small slice of what the Eyre Peninsula has to offer.
Quality food prepared by our in house personal chef, on the waterfront Coffin Bay, swimming with wild tuna, eating oysters straight from the rack and salmon fishing on a private beach were highlights for the visitors(see video 20110421-084953.mov).
Steph also has a few other strings to the bow as with Bill, they are very accomplished musicians and have their own rock band called Stephanie Hatfield and the Hot Mess. The first album is a ripper with another soon to be released. You can get a copy of their cd here at www.cdbaby.com
Below is a video clip of one of my favorites featuring them both.

The Travel Editors day out with Goin Off Safaris!

How good is  the Travel Editor’s Rebecca Wicks…..? Not only can she sink a cold glass of our best Coopers beer down, catch fish from a bathtub, capture the perfect kodak moment, but she can write a pretty good article!!

Adventurer Colin McCallum raises awareness on Ovarian Cancer

Here’s a great story about Colin McCallum, who lost his beloved wife through ovarian cancer and his now doing his best to raise awareness to us all about this disease. Colin contacted us a Goin’ Off Safaris as he badly wants to come to Pt.Lincoln to go shark cage diving amongst the Great Whites!

As part of Colin’s plight to raise awarness, he has just recently returned from Russia and after months of training, he got kitted up and flew a MIg 29 jet fighter to the edge of space to raise awareness for the silent symptoms for Ovarian Cancer! His story has just been on ABC TV in Perth, so click here for the full story.

The images that Colin sent us are below from his day in the MIG. Good on ya mate I say!

The dressing room where it all begins ,suit tighter than tight , these guys had to hod it open while I jumped of the ladder into it
Suit no 2 not just as tight
The walk to the transport that takes you to Mig with test pilot Uri and Erina
Going over plane construction and how they operate , whatever you do , never ever put bubble gum on the tip of the aircraft otherwise all communications are gone
Much better than construction where did I go wrong ?
The power plant 2 – widely spaced RD – 33 turbofan each rated at
18 000 plus Lb in afterburner. They are spaced apart to help generate lift , reduce wing loading and help maneuverability
Learning a few basics
A wee Scottish joke about who pulls the ejection handles in case of an emergency
They are fitted with a K 36 DM ejection seat which has had a lot of success  in emergency escapes. Procedure is to tuck arms and legs tight with head pushed back to try and prevent anything snapping  in the process of exit, as the rocket has a lot of force behind it. All joking aside Uri has lost 2 good friends who were test pilots in these planes but he said at least they passed doing something they loved
Picture before leaving
After the flight
Hope everyone is  well and I  hope this trip has brought  a little more awareness towards Ovarian Cancer
Take care
