Fisherman’s Delight

Day 1 – Fishing Frenzy

Fishermans DelightWelcome to a fishing frenzy!

After we pick you up from the airport, we take a short tour around Pt Lincoln and grab a quick bite to eat whilst waiting to board the Calypso Lady for the short steam to a farmed tuna cage in the glistening waters of Boston Bay – one of the world’s largest protected harbours (3 times the size of Sydney Harbour).

Here, in a world’s first and exclusive to Pt. Lincoln, you will enjoy the opportunity to swim with, feed and photograph these Blue Rockets, the mighty Blue Fin Tuna!

This is a fantastic experience, and you will be educated about the journey that these tuna have embarked on to get to the cages, how they feed, and how strong and powerful this species is – something you will appreciate later on the tour as we target these beauties!

After lunch and the morning’s excitement, we get the chance to throw a line out, beach fishing for the fighting salmon and massive flathead.

In the evening, we’ll tell a few fishing yarns as we relax on the deck of your waterfront accommodation whilst a seafood feast is prepared for you.

Day 2 – Coffin Bay Whiting

It’s boat fishing today, targeting the famous King George Whiting, trevally, salmon, snapper and anything else that may jump on the lines.

There’s some sensational scenery as we pass some significant historical landmarks of the Coffin Bay Peninsula amongst the resident pods of dolphins and bird life, and see the oyster farmers in action. Tonight’s challenge is to see how many whiting fillets you can handle!!

Day 3 – Sceales Bay Sport Fishing

It’s an early start but definitely worth it as we leave one magnificent bay for another – Sceales Bay.

Here’s where the big gear comes out aboard Blue Water Charters 3100 Noosa cat and we target tuna, Samson Fish, Blue Morwong, Blue Groper, Kingfish, snapper, Nannagai and shark, as well as massive whiting and trevally.

It really is a sensational day’s fishing before we retreat to the equally impressive Streaky Bay Hotel for the evening meals and a good night’s rest.

Day 4 – Jones Island Sea Lions and Dolphins

Today you are in for a world class treat with Bairds Bay Ocean Eco Experiences – swimming with the sea lions off Jones Island, a very short steam journey away aboard the 12m Investigator.

Experiencing sea lions in their natural environment is unforgettable – these fast, agile and playful creatures thrive on interaction with humans. Along with diving with the Great White Sharks and swimming with farmed tuna, this charming experience is rated as one of the “must do” activities in Australia.

Following the encounter, the Investigator pulls out into deeper waters, where you have the chance to swim with the resident dolphins. Powerful and lightening-fast, these animals often come so close to you that you can hear their high-pitched chatter.

On the return to the beach of Baird Bay, we have lunch before we departing for Pt Lincoln, but we have a few stops to make along the way.

A short drive away is the Murphy’s Haystacks. These rocks are ancient wind-worn granite inselbergs, purported to be over 1500 million years old. The unique outcrop of pink granite boulders is a delight for photographers.

The Talia caves are another fascinating attraction. Nature’s elements of sea and wind have etched patterns through time on their limestone roofs, whilst the surf washes the rocks edging the caves producing another spectacular scene of color and the wonderful force of the Southern Ocean.

We then take you back to the Pt Lincoln airport for your departure.
